GoSaath ("we", "our", "the app") is a ride-pooling application that connects
riders and drivers for shared trips. This Privacy Policy explains what
information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using
GoSaath you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account details — your name, email address, phone number, and password (passwords are stored encrypted/hashed, never in plain text).
- Profile information — optional profile photo, date of birth, and bio.
- Driver verification (KYC) documents — if you choose to drive, images of your Aadhaar (front/back), driving licence (front/back), vehicle number plate, and vehicle photos. These are used solely to verify driver eligibility.
- Ride information — pickup and drop locations, seats, fares, ride history, ratings, and feedback you submit.
- Messages — chat messages and support conversations you send within the app.
Information collected automatically
- Location data — your device location is used to show nearby rides, set pickup/drop points, and display maps. Location is used while you are using the relevant features.
- Push notification token — a device token (via Firebase Cloud Messaging / Expo) so we can deliver ride and account notifications.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Create and manage your account and authenticate you.
- Match riders with drivers and enable ride booking, publishing, and pooling.
- Verify driver documents and vehicles for safety.
- Display maps, routes, and nearby rides.
- Send ride updates, account alerts, and support messages.
- Enable chat and calls between riders and drivers for a trip.
- Maintain ride history, ratings, and feedback.
- Protect against fraud and keep the service safe.
3. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal data. Limited information is shared only as needed to operate the service:
- Between riders and drivers on a shared trip — name, profile photo, and contact method needed to coordinate the ride.
- Service providers we rely on: Mapbox (maps), Firebase / Expo (push notifications), MongoDB Atlas (database hosting), and our cloud server host.
- Legal — where required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users.
KYC documents are visible only to the app administrators for verification and are not shared with other users.
4. Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You may request deletion of your account and associated data (see Contact below). Ride history rows you delete are hidden from your view.
5. Security
We use industry-standard measures including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, hashed passwords, and access-controlled admin endpoints. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data.
6. Your Choices & Rights
- Access and update your profile information in the app.
- Turn off push notifications in your device settings.
- Control location access through your device's permission settings.
- Request account and data deletion by contacting us.
7. Children's Privacy
GoSaath is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest revision.
